So recently I’ve been getting into online marketing because I want to help my blog grow.
I was researching how to grow a blog and stumbled upon a lot of methods.
There was one thing that stood out to me the most…
…and that was SEO.
SEO stands for “Search Engine Optimisation”
It’s the task of putting a website on Google. More specifically the first page of Google because that’s where all the traffic is.
You see, whenever we have a question, problem or anything else… what do we do?
WE GOOGLE IT!
Google is a search engine that has indexed a crap load of content.
I can’t even imagine how much it must costs for Google to keep their servers up and running.
It literally has everything we can think of.
By optimising content for Google search queries, this increases the chance of us showing in the Google search results.
How do you optimise for Google search queries?
It’s actually fairly simple but can get very in depth. I’ll try keep it short and sweet.
- Keyword research – You need to find keywords that people are typing into Google. Keywords meaning search terms. For example, if you have a bodybuilding blog, a keyword for you could be, “best chest exercises”.
- Create content targeting that keyword’s user intent – After you’ve identified a keyword you want to go for, you must create content that caters to the intent behind that keyword. Sticking with the “best chest exercises” example, if you’re targeting that keyword, you will want to create a list of best chest exercises.
- Promotion – After you’ve published that piece of content, you will want to promote it. You can do this by sharing it on you social media, letting other bloggers know about about that piece of content and asking them to share. I would recommend building backlinks to it.
The best way to learn SEO/ Search Engine Optimisation is to be coached by someone who has already done it.
